4.4 Landscape Sensitivity Assessment results
This section presents the overall results of the landscape sensitivity assessment.
The overall results of the landscape sensitivity assessment are set out in the drop-down tables below. A spatial representation of the landscape sensitivity of North Somerset to tree and woodland planting can be viewed on the interactive mapping provided at the bottom of this page.
These results should be interpreted alongside the detailed information and guidance provided in the separate assessment profiles.
The LCTs within North Somerset comprise areas of higher and lower landscape sensitivity that vary from the overall scores. It is therefore important to take note of the content of the individual assessment profiles, including any commentary that highlights areas which could be more sensitive to tree and woodland planting.

Reference should also be made to the 3. Constraints and Woodland Opportunity Mapping prepared as part of this study. This maps constraints to woodland planting across North Somerset in order to identify land with potential for woodland planting at a strategic scale. These results were then overlaid with the outputs of this Landscape Sensitivity Assessment. The overall results are shown on the interactive mapping on the 5. Combined Results page.

LCAs within LCT L: Intertidal Bays have been excluded from the study as their land cover of inter-tidal sands, rocky shore, and beaches would largely be unsuitable for tree and woodland planting. LCA C2: Portbury Settled Coastal Edge is not assessed for sensitivity to large woodland (>30ha) or conifer plantation (>15ha) as the limited extent of remaining undeveloped land restricts the LCA’s capacity to accommodate new woodland of this scale.
